I've been having problems recently with transparent red enamels. The main thing is that the end result tends to be brown.
Consulting and reading various sources I find nothing conclusive. In case anyone has the same problems I include the three most repeated solutions; lower temperature, do not use shelf paper, slightly open the klin to oxygenate. In my case it did not work. I use electric kiln and try different glass.
Does anyone have any solution more? Otherwise, What red enamels give you good red transparent outcome?

I use Ruger & Gunzel red enamel, and Reusche red enamel. I fire in an electric kiln. I don't have problems with them turning brown. My firing schedule is 400°F per hour to 1100°F with a 10 minute hold at 1100°. I have fired on shelf paper without a problem, but I usually do not use it. I typically do not vent my kiln. I have had problems with the colors when using a propane kiln, and when I have applied the color with a brush too heavily. Usually I airbrush the enamel onto the glass. if you are firing on float window glass. One side of the glass is the "float" side. The red reacts with the float side and turns brown. Test both sides of the sheet with the paint and see what happens. Then mark the glass accordingly

Thanks Vic, the problem whith the tin side on float glass was my first option, and of course your advise is correct but i have not luck and it does not fix my problem. I have tried this morning again in low temperature and diferent types of glass and in both sides,it doesnt work. I keep on looking for suggestions. Thanks again Vic.
