Dear Supporter of the St. Paul Preaching at Athens Window Restoration,
The restoration of the St. Paul Preaching at Athens window has begun! As promised, here is the first of a series of reports of the restoration work.
The window was removed during the week of March 22nd and transported to the Venturella Studio in NYC where it will undergo its 14-month conservation. Removing the twenty-two panels of the window was a delicate process. This window offered a number of challenges. Please click on the highlighted names below and it will take you to a short video of the removal of one window panel with explanations of what is happening from the two men executing the removal: Jim Murphy of Venturella Studio and John Clark of Wardell Art Glass.
We are delighted to share with you the progress on the work of the window’s conservation. For the most up-to-date information on our website for St. Paul Preaching at Athens please click here. Thank you for your support of this work. You make Friends’ efforts to preserve Chicago’s only National Historic Landmark church a reality.
Best regards,
Linda P. Miller, President
