Finally, up close photos of some windows at Notre Dame Cathedral.......heat cracks!! needed to have these up close looks to determine the results....so, there will be a lot of work to do, on the building itself deciding how to approach the situation, and of course, the stained glass.....

Robert Rusev's photos on Facebook are of other windows damaged by fire, not Notre Dame's, but they show well how much serious damage can be done to glass without it falling out of its opening. So many have commented that the glass is in place, so it must be okay, but that is far from true. We'll have to wait and see what the state of the glass actually is.

Gosh, guess I didn't read entire article.....was so hoping it was about the Notre Dame windows, but Mary is certainly correct in that it will take time to examine all the windows and assess their condition......let's hope for the best!!!

The photos that Rob posted show thermal shock that occurred when the cold water from fire hoses contacted the glass. The third window in Rob's triptych was not hit with water and survived the fire. I heard one official from Notre Dame comment that the fire brigade had been instructed to not get water on the glass but I think that would have been very difficult with the fire burning directly above the south transept rose.
